Woo! Also: Yay!

Jun. 24th, 2007 | 02:36 pm

Heard the computer beep a while back and finally came in to check the message that had arrived. I found this:

From: R.L.Mirabal@fcps.edu
Date: June 24, 2007 1:19:58 PM PDT

We are here in Nebraska. The infamous Airport Inn where we've dodged tornadoes together, swam at the pool, played baseball with petrified logs and didn't stay last year or three years ago (we stayed across Lincoln practically in Omaha - still not happy about that).

Well, some of you may have had heard buzz after an announcement I made to the students taking this trip at around 7 am this morning. This past Friday I accepted an offer from a school with a full-time position and a great tradition and history. I couldn't turn this opportunity down because it was the best thing for me and my family. So this is it. Come August 1st, I will become the full-time theatre arts director at The Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Virginia.

Administration came through with the classes I would need to make me full time and offered the position to be a week before I was to interview for Marshall. So I'm back and I don't intend get put back in this situation again. Thank you for your support. Your letters and emails to Linda Burke probably tipped the scale in my favor, but what I know they did was help me out during a very bad time. They gave me an ego boost I desperately needed. Someday soon everything I went through will come out and you'll realize how much your words helped me through this period. But until then, please accept my total and complete thanks and gratitude.

Have a great summer.

R. L. Mirabal
STILL Artistic Director
The Lake Braddock Theatre
